WHAT WE DO
G.R.A.S.P. helps individuals who are transitioning back into the community after incarceration, treatment, or detox by increasing access to safe, recovery-focused housing. Through partnerships with vetted recovery residences, G.R.A.S.P. provides short-term financial assistance to cover the first two weeks of rent, giving individuals the opportunity to stabilize in a supportive environment during this critical time.
Our work is specifically focused on supporting those in recovery from substance misuse and mental health challenges. By connecting recovery residences with the resources they need to serve individuals reentering society, G.R.A.S.P. plays a vital role in preventing recidivism, relapse, and homelessness. We ensure that each supported recovery residence meets our standards for accountability, structure, and safety—including having Narcan on-site for overdose response.
In response to the growing need for support during reentry, G.R.A.S.P. has expanded its outreach to include collaboration with local jails, courts, and treatment providers. We work directly with recovery residences, often coordinating pre-release plans to ensure individuals have housing lined up before discharge. In 2024 alone, G.R.A.S.P. sponsored 382 individuals through this model—each one navigating a vulnerable moment in their journey and receiving a critical lifeline through access to safe, sober housing.
Because many people leaving incarceration or treatment face barriers to government aid or private support, G.R.A.S.P. exists to fill that gap. We are committed to ensuring recovery housing is accessible to all, regardless of age, race, gender, or background.
By partnering with institutions like the Sarasota County Jail, Sarasota County Drug Court, local rehabilitation centers, and the Florida Department of Corrections and our local Recovery Residences, G.R.A.S.P. continues to offer practical solutions to help individuals reintegrate into the community with dignity, stability, and hope for a better future.
