G.R.A.S.P.

WHO WE ARE

G.R.A.S.P. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals recovering from drug and alcohol addiction, focusing on meaningful recovery rather than temporary solutions. The organization provides vulnerable clients with accountable re-entry programs, filling critical gaps left by government and private services.

Our History

G.R.A.S.P., which stands for Guidance Recidivism Assistance Programs, was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in August of 2010 by Jodi Childs Harrison and John Harrison, who recognized the need for supporting individuals in recovery and transition in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. The Harrisons appointed Michael Richker as their CEO. G.R.A.S.P. was formed to provide support to adults in need of shelter and assistance upon exiting incarceration, institutionalization, or treatment centers due to substance abuse or mental health issues. Dedicated to helping those seeking recovery during this transitional period when entering back into society, the organization has been sponsoring this demographic of individuals for 13 years, successfully funding housing costs, food and clothing, communication, and even assisting with transportation, professional development, and recovery services.

What We Do

G.R.A.S.P. helps individuals who are transitioning out of incarceration or rehabilitation facilities by offering resources such as housing needed to successfully re-enter the community. By supplying financial aid for safe housing through partnerships with approved accountable re-entry programs,G.R.A.S.P. not only sponsors those in need with shelter in these homes to avoid the risks of recidivism or relapse, but provides essentials such as food, clothing, transportation, and professional development help and more to empower these individuals.

What our Clients are saying

My name is Erin Patrick, I am a recovering alcoholic, and I have been staying at Courage to Change since November 2023. I am grateful to be here. Courage to Change has helped me to remain sober by providing clean, safe, affordable living, a great support system, and kind and caring staff. I am so very thankful that Courage to Change accepted me. I have repaired relationships with friends and family, remained sober and focused, and my days just keep getting better and better. G.R.A.S.P helped me get in, and, without their help, I don’t know where I would be right now. Thank you, and God bless.
